Walk to the Coho Festival while discovering North Shore’s Capilano River. This walk follows the journey of salmon from hatchery to ocean.
Coho Walk Route
The short walk is a 4km loop that starts and finishes at the Cleveland Dam. The end of this hike is uphill and may be strenuous for some walkers.
The long walk is 8.5km, starting at the Cleveland Dam and finishing at Ambleside Park, the site of the Coho Festival. (You should begin before noon in order to finish the hike by 2:00pm)
$2/person, $6/family, children 6 and under free. Each paid admission entitles you to a $2 coupon redeemable at the Coho Festival. Limit three coupons per family.
All proceeds go to Coho Society of the North Shore to benefit and support local waterway enhancement and sustainability projects.
- Hikes are not appropriate for baby strollers.
- Dogs on leash are welcome for the walk; however, dogs are not permitted on buses.
- Remember to bring water!
There will be a shuttle bus to take you to the start of the walk. The bus pick up point is at Clyde Avenue and Taylor Way. (Look for signs about a half block in from Taylor Way on Clyde.) There is FREE parking just up the stairs from this pick up point. This free parking is in the Park Royal parkade at the north east corner of Taylor Way and Marine Drive.
First shuttle bus leaves this pick up point at 9:30am and the last bus leaves Cleveland Dam at 2:45 pm. Bus will continue pick ups approx. every 30 mins.
This bus also makes stops at Marine/14th, Marine/11th (closest stop to Ambleside Park) and will take you back to pick up point (Park Royal South).Last bus leaves Marine/11th at 3:00 pm.. This is how you can get back to your parked car or you can walk along the lovely waterfront path from Ambleside Park to Park Royal.
